Privacy Policy

HushView hides sensitive WhatsApp Web content from nearby viewers. The core privacy shield runs locally in the browser.
Data HushView does not collect
HushView does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or use for advertising:
- WhatsApp messages, contact names, phone numbers, images, video, audio, or files;
- browsing history or activity outside WhatsApp Web;
- keystrokes or message drafts;
- analytics, advertising identifiers, or behavioral profiles;
- payment card or bank details.
The shield uses local CSS selectors to change how WhatsApp Web elements are displayed. It does not copy or analyze their contents.
Local settings
HushView stores shield preferences in Chrome local storage, including blurred categories, blur strength, hover behavior, and Pro convenience settings. These preferences remain on the device unless the user removes the extension or clears its storage.
Optional Pro licensing
After a user chooses to activate Pro, HushView sends the license key plus an activation label or saved activation identifier to its HTTPS license proxy. The proxy forwards the request to Creem, confirms that the license belongs to HushView, and returns only license status, expiration, product ID, and activation ID. No WhatsApp content is included.
The license key and activation identifier are stored locally so HushView can revalidate access. A successful license has a seven-day offline grace period. Payment happens on Creem's hosted checkout. HushView never receives or processes card information. Creem handles payment, tax, receipts, refunds, and purchase records under its own terms and privacy policy.
Network information and abuse prevention
Like any HTTPS service, the license proxy receives network information including the source IP address. Cloudflare rate limit controls process the IP address transiently to prevent automated abuse. HushView does not store it in an application database and does not use it for analytics, advertising, or profiling. Cloudflare may process network metadata as part of providing the Worker service.
Permissions
- storage: saves local preferences and optional license status.
- https://web.whatsapp.com/*: applies the visual shield when WhatsApp Web loads. No page content is transmitted.
- Optional license-service access: activates or validates Pro after a user action. It cannot access WhatsApp Web content.
Data sharing and advertising
HushView contains no advertising, affiliate links, analytics, or data broker integration. It does not use browsing activity for personalized, retargeted, or interest-based advertising.
Retention and deletion
Free-tier data consists only of local settings. Pro adds a locally stored license key and activation status. Removing HushView deletes its Chrome local storage. License and purchase records retained by Creem are governed by Creem's policies and applicable law.
Changes
Material changes to this policy will be described in the Chrome Web Store listing and reflected by a new effective date. HushView will not introduce collection of WhatsApp content without a new disclosure and user consent.
